چکیده

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a fatal disease caused by feline coronaviruses. The causative agent Virus, mutation of Enteric Coronavirus. Corona Virus very common in the cat population. In infected cats, development FIP depends on cat's immune response. more young and old cats because animals have weaker system. acute phase response complex systemic reaction that occurs as to or chronic inflammatory processes such infection, neoplasia immunological disorders, tissue damage, trauma surgery. study material included 15 with presumptive (study group) 10 healthy (control group). Of 9 (60%) showed dry 6 (40%) effusive form. Serum amyloid A (SAA), haptoglobin (Hp), α1-acid glycoprotein (AGP), albumin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), hepcidin, alanine-amino transferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), creatinine levels were measured serum collected from both groups. There no difference between wet albumin values; haptoglobin, glycoprotein, SAA hepcidin values significantly different two IL-6, significant It was also concluded may be used biomarker like other proteins.

Antibody detection of feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) in sera of companion cats in Ahvaz, south west of Iran

Feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV) is ubiquitous in domestic cats, especially in young cats and multi-cat environments. In the present study, a total of 248 companion cats of different ages were examined for serum antibody detection of FIPV by immunochromatography assay. The cats were selected from those referring to Veterinary Hospital of Ahvaz University, southwestern Iran from Decemb...

Treatment of cats with feline infectious peritonitis.

Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) infection resulting in clinical signs is invariably fatal despite clinical intervention. As FIP is an immune-mediated disease, treatment is mainly aimed at controlling the immune response triggered by the infection with the feline coronavirus (FCoV). Immune suppressive drugs such as prednisone or cyclophosphamide may slow disease progression but do not produc...

Two related strains of feline infectious peritonitis virus isolated from immunocompromised cats infected with a feline enteric coronavirus.

Two groups of cats were experimentally infected orally with the cat-passaged RM strain of feline enteric coronavirus (FECV-RM). One group of cats (n = 19) had been chronically infected with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) for over 6 years, while a second control group (n = 20) consisted of FIV-naive siblings. Fecal virus shedding of FECV occurred in both groups starting on day 3 postinfecti...

Detection of feline infectious peritonitis virus-like antigen in ferrets.

SIR, – Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is caused by feline coronavirus (FCoV). It is a well known and widely distributed coronavirus-induced systemic disease in cats and non-domestic felids (O’Reilly and others 1979, Kennedy and others 2002). The disease is characterised by fibrinous to granulomatous serositis with protein-rich effusions in body cavities and granulomatous inflammatory lesio...

Prevalence of feline coronavirus types I and II in cats with histopathologically verified feline infectious peritonitis.

Feline coronaviruses (FCoV) vary widely in virulence causing a spectrum of clinical manifestations reaching from subclinical course to fatal feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). Independent of virulence variations they are separated into two different types, type I, the original FCoV, and type II, which is closely related to canine coronavirus (CCV). The prevalence of FCoV types in Austrian cat...
